THE Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) handled 461,121 TEU in July, marking a 5.64 per cent increase compared to the same month last year, reports London's Port Technology.
In terms of weight, the port processed 6.75 million tonnes of goods, up 1.22 per cent from July 2023.
From January to 31 July, Valenciaport handled 3.16 million TEU, a 12.74 per cent increase over the same period last year, with a total of 47.61 million tonnes of cargo, reflecting a 6.10 per cent rise.
On an annual basis (over the last 12 months), the port supported foreign trade with 79.48 million tonnes of goods and 5.15 million TEU, representing year-on-year growth of 5.56 per cent and 8.62 per cent, respectively.
According to the PAV Statistical Bulletin, there have been declines in bulk traffic (down 27.53 per cent), empty containers (down 5.78 per cent), and exports (down 5.81 per cent) since last July.
These declines were offset by increases in containerised general cargo (9.10 per cent), import containers (7.24 per cent) and transit containers (18.65 per cent).
Additionally, in July, PAV reported a 65 per cent surge in container traffic between Valencian docks and key Red Sea ports.
