SINGAPORE Airlines launches new freighter route via Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Singapore Changi Airport, with departure from Dallas Fort Worth and additional stops at Brussels Airport and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
The carrier will deploy on a Boeing 747-400 freighter on the Dallas Fort Worth, Atlanta, Brussels, Sharjah, Singapore routing, which is scheduled to fly until to March 20, 2020, New York's Air Cargo World reported.
The new route comes amid a challenging year for the industry, during which Singapore Airlines saw ongoing declines in monthly volumes.
According to the carrier's October figures, cargo tonnage dropped by 6.8 per cent year on year to 108,000 tonnes. Regarding traffic, Singapore Airlines saw a 10.3 per cent decrease in cargo demand to 570 million freight tonne kilometres for October, while year-to-date traffic was behind seven per cent to 5.8 billion FTKs.
