MORE than 940,000 TEU of goods were loaded and unloaded at shahid Rajaee Port in the first half of the present Iranian calendar year, reports the Tehran Times.
Ports and Maritime Department of Hormozgan province director general Hossein Abbasnejad declared that 22 million tons of non-oil goods and 16 million tons of oil products were loaded and unloaded in the six-month period.
Some 1.708 million TEU of goods were loaded and unloaded in Shahid Rajaee port during the previous Iranian calendar year.
According to the Ports and Maritime Organisation (PMO), the loading and unloading of goods in the country's ports has risen 4.8 per cent during the first half of the current year.
More than 109.7 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in the ports of Iran during the first half of this year, while it was 104.6 million tons in the first half of the previous year.
As reported, loading and unloading of non-oil products stood at 54.7 million tons in the six-month of this year, up 0.8 per cent from 54.366 million tons.
For oil products, this year's figure was 54.955 million tons, rising 9.2 per cent from 50.331 million tons.
According to the Ports and Maritime Organisation, the capacity of Iran's ports has increased from 180 million tons in March 2014 to 250 million tons in March 2021.
Shahid Rajaee accounts for 85 per cent of the total loading and unloading at the Iranian ports.
