Seaspan acquires 10,000 TEU ship for MOL Asia-Europe G6 service

HONG KONG-operated Seaspan, the independent charter owner and container lessor with a headquarters in Vancouver, now takes delivery of the first of 10 neopanamax 10,010 TEUers built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.

The MOL Bravo will be assigned to the G6 Asia-Europe Loop 1 under long-term MOL charter. MOL will split the other ships equally between Seaspan and Greater China Intermodal Investments (GCI) with the backing of long-term charters.

There are no charterers for four last units to be delivered in 2016.

The MOL Bravo is owned by Marshall Island-based investment vehicle GCI, established by Seaspan with the Carlyle Group and the Washington family. It is the eighth ship delivered in this Seaspan-GCI programme from a total of 11 sister ships, following recent delivery of Hanjin Tabul.
