SEABOARD Marine enhanced 'North Atlantic - North Central America' now links New York with El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
The service includes a weekly loop that terminates at the Red Hook Container Terminal, Brooklyn having set sail on April 29 from Santo Tomas, Guatemala.
The service started with the 2,000-TEU class Seaboard Atlantic, which arrived at Red Hook Container Terminal on May 6. The following week, Seaboard Marine launched a second ship.
The 1,740-TEU Acrux next sailed from Puerto Cortes, Honduras, arriving on at Red Hook on May 13. The two-vessel string carries general merchandise cargo including produce and apparel.
