SANMAR and the General Directorate of Coastal Safety Signed Sales Agreement for 2 tugboats with a CeremonySanmar held a signing ceremony for two new ASD tugboats that will strengthen the search and rescue fleet of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety.Sanmar had previously delivered four state-of-the-art tugboats for the General Directorate of Coastal Safety fleet. The ceremony was held at Sanmar’s Altınova Shipyard, located in the heart of the Turkish maritime sector, where the two new tugboats will be built. Designed for Sanmar by Canadian designer Robert Allan Ltd., the RAmparts 2400SX MKII “Boğaçay” series tugboats are 24 meters long, have a bollard pull of 75 tons and will meet IMO Tier III environmental standards. They will also have Fi-Fi 1 fire extinguishing capability.Once delivered, the tugboats will contribute greatly to the safety of maritime operations throughout Turkey, providing emergency response, escort and fire extinguishing services.The ceremony was attended by the Chairman and General Manager of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety Mustafa BANKAĞLU, Deputy General Managers of Coastal Safety Orhan BARDA and Abdurrahman KÖSE, Head of Support Services Department Gökmen KINIK, Tender Branch Manager Yılmaz DURSUN and Administrative Affairs Manager Hakan KARİPARDUÇ.Among the Sanmar executives who attended the event were Chairman of the Board Ali GÜRÜN, Deputy Chairman of the Board Cem SEVEN, Honorary President Orhan GÜRÜN and Corporate Strategies Director İpek GÜRÜN as well as other Sanmar executives.Ali Gürün: "It is an honor for us to work with KEGM"Ali GÜRÜN said the following: “The General Directorate of Coastal Safety carries out vital work on the Turkish coasts and we are proud to be able to provide them with the powerful tugboats they need for this work. It is an honor for us to work with them again to meet their needs.”Mustafa BANKAOĞLU, Chairman of the Board and Director General of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, expressed his satisfaction in his speech that Sanmar Shipyard will build 2 more tugboats in addition to the 4 tugboats we received in 2021 and 2023. He stated that the new tugboats will contribute to the navigation safety of the Turkish Straits and that the General Directorate of Coastal Safety fleet will continue to grow in the coming years.
