THE Port of Rotterdam has announced the signing of a partnership agreement with the Port of Guangzhou that will see the exchange of expertise and best practices in the field of port management.
The partnership is also part of the Port of Rotterdam's strategy to share knowledge with ports around the world and enter new markets, reports London's Port Technology.
In addition to this, both Rotterdam and its Chinese partner will participate in feasibility studies to drive innovation, develop new technologies and achieve higher levels of performance.
Guangzhou, one of the world's largest container ports, is continuing to grow, and achieved a throughput of 22 million TEU in 2018.
This was over 50 per cent higher than Rotterdam's throughput last year, which totalled 14.5 million TEU.
