THE Ports of Genoa, Savona and Vado Ligure broke annual container volume records in 2021, despite ongoing disruptions in the global supply chain, reports London's port Technology International.
Some 2,781,112 TEU passed through the ports, an 11.3 per cent increase on 2020s volumes and a 4.2 per cent rise on 2019.
Total cargo throughput saw an increase of 10.3 per cent over the previous year.
These volumes were due to the completion of the operational start-up phase of the Vado Gateway and the opening of the Bettolo-Genoa Mediterranean Gateway Terminal at the end of 2020.
