JAPANESE shipping giant NYK recently played host to a group of Filipino young people as part of the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS 2019), sponsored by Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The group toured the head office and the NYK Maritime Museum and Hikawa Maru museum ship as part of the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths,

NYK personnel also reviewed the company's business activities and how Filipino seafarers are playing an important role in the shipping industry, said a company statement.

The company also introduced the NYK-TDG Maritime Academy (NTMA), which is located in the suburbs of Manila and jointly run by NYK and the Transnational Diversified Group (TDG). In addition, a Filipino seafarer who works at the NYK head office talked about his work and life in Tokyo, and many questions were asked by the youths.

On October 30, they visited the NYK Maritime Museum and the Hikawa Maru museum ship in Yokohama to learn more about the company's contributions to the shipping industry in Japan.

The NYK Group said will continue to work to expand its business while striving to improve both the quantity and quality of Filipino seafarers by strengthening the company's relationship with the Philippines.

The Transnational Diversified Group (TDG) is a globally competitive and highly progressive Philippine-owned business group that comprises over 40 companies, primarily in logistics, ship management & manpower, travel & tourism, information and communications technology, and other investments in industries such as renewable energy, agriculture, and real estate.

Since its establishment in 1976, TDG has been actively working with NYK and has since become a respected strategic partner of large global corporations as a result of its world-class experience and win-win outlook.
