THE Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) announced that the loading of 25,300 tonnes of raw sugar has begun to meet the country's sugar allocation quota to the US, as outlined in Sugar Order (SO) 3, reports the Manila Times.
The manual loading process started in Negros Occidental, with 1,500 tonnes being loaded daily onto the cargo vessel Tate J at Bredco Port.
The operation is expected to continue for about 15 days.
'It will take about 15 days to load the shipment, provided we have good weather. It will take 30 days for the cargo to reach US soil,' said SRA administrator Pablo Luis Azcona.
'This will balance out the supply of raw sugar in the country when milling starts this September.'
