The "Großer Michel" ran aground in the evening of Mar 2, 2017, around 9 p.m. with 54 passengers, mainly journalists on a charter tour, on board at the Rissen Shore on the Elbe. Attempts to pull the ship off failed. The ship was high and dry at low tide, so the passengers were taken off with boats of the water police. Also the fire rescue attended the site. More than 50 forces were on scene.
