TERMINAL de Conteineres de Parangua (TCP), 180 miles south of Sao Paulo, has purchased 11 Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, reports London's Port Technology.
The new RTGs from crane manufacturer Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited (ZPMC) are scheduled to arrive by December 2023.
Each one of the new cranes has a lifting load of 41 tons under-spreader, one over six stacking height, and is ergonomically designed with the latest generation of safety prevention systems.
The terminal is controlled by the Chinese group CMPort, and the acquisition is part of the firm's investment plan.
The second batch of ten RTGs will be ordered by end of 2025 in order to replace older RTGs.
In addition to purchasing new RTGs, TCP is expanding its capacity for reefer storage 43 per cent.
'We are committed to strengthening the infrastructure and boosting productivity in response to our customers' support,' said TCP chief executive James Cao.
'As the member of CMPort, our goal is to make TCP a leading player of integrated logistics solutions in South America.'
