HONG KONG's Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has announced a 4.1 per cent year-on-year increase in third quarter container volumes to 1,781,120 TEU as well as a 5.8 per cent increase in revenue to US$1.646 billion.

OOCL, now a China Cosco unit, reported transpacific volumes were up 3.5 per cent, transatlantic volumes were up 5.8 per cent, Asia-Europe volumes were up 11.4 per cent and intra-Asia/Australasia volumes were up 1.2 per cent.



Revenue in the transpacific was up 7.1 per cent; in the transatlantic, up 12 per cent; in Asia-Europe, up 3.1 per cent and in the company's intra-Asia/Australasia segment, up 4.1 per cent.



Cosco will pursues a 'dual brand' strategy. OOCL, Cosco, CMA CGM and Evergreen are all members of the Ocean Alliance, one of the three global space-sharing agreements among container liner companies.
