TOGETHER with the Kramer Group, Japanese container shipping line joint venture Ocean Network Express (ONE) has opened a new 100,000-square-metre container depot in the port of Rotterdam (Maasvlakte) that has a storage capacity of 12,000 TEU and is fitted with 70 reefer plugs.
The depot is intended to act as a hub for laden and empty containers, located close to all the major box terminals in Rotterdam port. It is equipped with two reach stackers, three empty handlers and two gantry cranes, reported Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.
Kramer Group CEO Andre Kramer was quoted as saying: 'We consider this unique concept as a big step forward in our partnership with Ocean Network Express and look forward to similar projects with them going forward.'
Ocean Network Express (Europe) manager Johan Pijpers said: 'By integrating operational processes between both companies, ONE ensures best-in-class service to its customers but at the same time ensuring that ONE is set up for growth in one of the most important ports in Europe.'
