OMAN is to officially launch its fourth regional airport on January 14 at Duqm, located 3,000 km from capital Muscat.
The Duqm Airport covers an area of 27,386 square metres and is able to handle half million passengers annually, and the ability to expand to two million travellers each year. Its 9,958-square-metre air cargo facility has a capacity to handle 25,000 tonnes each year, Bahrain's Trade Arabia reported quoting the Kuwait News Agency (Kuna).
The facility includes a navigation compound, a 38-metre-tall air traffic control (ATC) tower. The airport also boasts a 4-km-long runway with a width of 75 metres.
