OMAN Air Cargo has launched a mobile application, SmartKargo, for shippers and freight forwarders in collaboration with QuantumID Technologies.
The app, available to download from both Apple and Android App stores, builds on the successful deployment of the SmartKargo cloud-based cargo management platform that was released in September 2017.
'We are happy to announce the successful launch of our cargo application that provides easy access and excellent functionalities for our clients and freighters,' Oman Air chief commercial officer Paul Starrs was quoted as saying in a report by The STAT TradeTimes, Mumbai.
'We have ambitious plans to grow our cargo business and remain competitive and our collaboration with SmartKargo allows us to do so with state-of-the-art technology that is fast to deploy and easy-to-use.'
Through the app, shippers and customers will be provided with self-service and mobile capabilities to interface in real-time with Oman Air Cargo, in order to receive quotes and more accurate shipment information, check flight schedules, make capacity queries, place bookings and receive tracking notifications.
Oman Air senior vice president Mohammed Al Musafir added: 'There are many cargo mobile apps out in the market but while they provide information, they do not allow bookings. SmartKargo technology is the first platform to provide this enhanced customer experience.
'Additionally, the SmartKargo platform is 100 per cent cloud-base, operating on the scalable and robust Microsoft Azure infrastructure platform.'
The app was officially launched in Oman in January and will be rolled out to markets worldwide in stages this year.
