NORWAY headquartered shipowner Ocean Yield is to purchase a 5,500-TEU container vessel newbuilding that can be converted to dual fuel operation using methanol as fuel, reports UK's Bunkerspot.
Delivery of the containership, which is under construction at HJ Shipbuilding, Korea, is expected in November 2023. After delivery, the vessel will commence a seven-year time charter contract to Zim Integrated Shipping Services Ltd.
As previously reported, last year, Ocean Yield announced it was acquiring a 49.9 per cent equity interest in an LNG-fuelled, 15,300 TEU-capacity newbuild.
