JAPAN'S Kyoei Tankers, a unit of NYK Group, has ordered a 310,000 deadweight tonnage (dwt) very large crude carrier (VLCC) from Namura Shipbuilding as it is expanding its fleet.
The vessel that costs US$95 million is fitted with a scrubber and slated for delivery in 2021, according to a report by shipbroking house Advanced Shipping & Trading.
Kyoei Tankers has a fleet of 15 vessels, comprising eight oil tankers, two very large gas carriers (VLGCs) and five bulk carriers, reported Singapore's Splash 247.
The company is expected to take delivery of three VLCC newbuildings from Namura Shipbuiding and Japan Marine United this year.
