INDIA's best-performing port, Mumbai's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), saw a surge in cargo handling in 2022 at 5.96 million TEU, a up 5.8 per cent year on year, reports India's APN News.
JNPA also handled 81.1 million tonnes of cargo in 2022 as against 76.1 tonnes in 2021, a growth of 6.55 per cent. Total traffic of 81.1 tonnes and container traffic of 5,96 million TEU is the highest-ever traffic handled in a year since the inception of the port.
'The year 2022 was phenomenal for JNPA as we achieved the milestone of handling the highest ever traffic in port. The performance of all our terminal operators is noteworthy,' said JNPA chairman Shri Sanjay Sethi.
'Besides, in 2022, we became India's best-performing port, the first 100 per cent landlord major port, and being acclaimed with various prestigious awards,' he said.
