THE 12,200-TEU msc Carole set a new reefer container export record in Chile sending 4,164 TEU of fresh and frozen fruit and seafood to the US and Europe, reports London's Americafruit.
The ship, with 2,082 reefer plugs, set sail from the port of Valparaiso carrying 2,082 containers, equivalent to 4,164 TEU of mostly grapes, apples, pears, quinces, and frozen products (fruit, salmon, and seafood), the most important markets for reefer products from Chile.
The ship operates between Europe, the United States, and the west coast of South America. Before MSC Carole, the record was held by MSC Madhu B, with nearly 3,540 TEU of reefer containers carried in March 2020.
Francisco Herrera, export commercial manager at MSC Chile, said the company can count on cargo capacity and container availability, even amid the current difficult operational environment.
MSC Chile said the record is the result of the joint efforts of the sales, customer service, reefer operations and operations teams, as well as logistics and warehouse at its subsidiary Medlog Chile for land transport and logistics activities.
