MALAYSIA Airlines has extended a contract with mjets Air as its dedicated narrowbody freighter operator for the benefit of its cargo unit MASKargo.
According to a recent Bursa Malaysia filing, the two parties will sign an agreement on the scope of the charters and other conditions within 60 days of issuing the letter of award, according to Switzerland's ch-aviation.
The contract extension runs from January 1 to December 31, 2025, and the value of the services will be based on the actual flights flown and schedules completed in accordance with the agreed flight programme.
There is no renewal clause in the letter of award and any extension would be subject to discussion and negotiation.
As ch-aviation previously reported, Malaysia Airlines appointed MJets Air as its narrowbody freighter operator for MASKargo in early April. That initial contract ran from May 1 to October 31, 2024, but was later extended.
Operating out of Kuala Lumpur International, it provides 'integrated' solutions including commercial cargo operations, ground handling, an oceanic transshipment facility, and on-demand cargo depot services.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows MJets, which was formerly known as Kargo Xpress, operates five B737-800(BCF)s and a single (inactive) B737-400(F).
