MISC provides 699-TEUer as anti-piracy Malaysian naval auxiliary ship
MALAYSIA'a MISC Berhad has handed over to the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) a 699-TEU ship for use as a naval auxiliary vessel.
The ship is the first Malaysian vessel to be converted into an RMN Auxiliary Vessel and tasked with escorting MISC ships sailing through the Gulf of Aden, a high-risk pirate-infested area.
Now called the Bunga Mas Limma (BM5), the ship joins the RMN's current fleet that will be deployed to safeguard Malaysian maritime insterests.
A ceremony to commemorate the handing over of the vessel was held at the RMN Kota Kinabalu Navy Base, Sabah and attended by representatives from MISC and the RMN.
Attending was Admiral Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin, chief of the navy and MISC president and CEO Yee Yang Chien.
