On June 17, 2018, at 12.10 a.m. the CROSS Gris-Nez was alerted by the 'Bretagne' for a medical evacuation of a passenger suffering from discomfort A myocardial infarction was suspected and an emergency medical evacuation recommended. The CROSS Gris-Nez alerted a Cayman helicopter of the Navy based in Maupertus and contacted the Maritime Medical Coordination SAMU in Le Havre for the deployment of a medical team. The ferry was about 30 nautical miles off Cotentin. The CROSS Gris-Nez asked the ship to get closer to the French coast in order to shorten the arrival time of the rescue team. Around 1:15 a.m., the Cayman helicopter took on board the medical team in Le Havre before heading to the 'Brittany' where it arrived at 2:00 a.m. Once the medical team was dropped off aboard the ferry the helicopter departed for Maupertus to refuel, allowing it to make the return trip via Le Havre. Around 3.30 a.m., after being stabilized by the medical team for the evacuation, the patient was hoisted aboard the helicopter for transfer to the hospital Jacques Monod in Le Havr where he arrived around 4:15 a.m.
