THE ports supervised by the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) recorded a throughput decrease of 14.40 per cent in July 2024, totalling 645,019 TEU.
The statistics for imported containers showed an increase of 15.72 per cent to reach 271,465 containers, compared to 234,592 containers last year.
Statistics for exported containers decreased by 2.50 per cent to 243,758 TEU, compared to 250,003 TEU in the corresponding period of 2023.
Transshipment containers decreased by 51.73 per cent, reaching 129,797 TEU compared to 268,901 TEU in 2023.
Cargo reached 27.4 million tonnes, compared to 25 million tonnes in the same month of 2023.
Additionally, maritime traffic decreased by 11.24 per cent, recording 908 ships compared to 1,023 ships in 2023, according to London's Port Technology International.
