Maersk sets February 3 rates from India, Arabian, Red seas to Newark

DANISH shipping giant Maersk Lines has announced an increase in FAK rates (Freight All Kinds) from the Indian subcontinent and the Red and Arabian Sea to Newark starting February 3.

Below are the FAK rates for a sample list of corridors, commodities and container types where the rate increase is effective, said the company statement.

From Mumbai's Jawaharlal Nehru port to Newark the new rate from February 3 until no later than February 28 will be US$2,270 per TEU, $2,715 per FEU and $2,715 per FEU high cube for all freight excluding garments and apparel.

From Kattupalli port to Newark the new rate from February 3 until no later than February 28 will be $2,440 per TEU, $2,930 per FEU and $2,980 per FEU high cube for all freight excluding garments and apparel.

From Colombo to Newark the new rate from February 3 until no later than February 28 will be $1,920 per TEU, $2,440 per FEU and $2,440 per FEU high cube for all freight excluding garments and apparel.

From Port Qasim to Newark the new rate from February 3 until no later than February 28 will be $2,100 per TEU, $2,335 per FEU and $2,335 per FEU high cube for all freight excluding garments and apparel.

From Jeddah to Newark the new rate from February 3 until no later than February 28 will be $2,155 per TEU, $3,110 per FEU and $3,185 per FEU high cube for all freight excluding garments and apparel.

From Jebel Ali to Newark the new rate from February 3 until no later than February 28 will be $1,795 per TEU, $2,650 per FEU and $2,650 per FEU high cube for all freight excluding garments and apparel.

The above rates are inclusive of Basic Freight Rate (BAS), Bunker Adjustment Factor (SBF) and Destination Handling Charge (DHC).

They are also subject to Low Sulphur Surcharge (LSS), Emergency Risk Surcharge (ERS), Origin Handling Charges (OHC) and Peak Season Surcharge (PSS).

The above rates are also subject to other applicable surcharges, including local charges and contingency charges.
