AP Moller-Maersk has announced strategic leadership changes in its air freight forwarding division, appointing John Wetherell as the chief of air forwarding, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
Mr Wetherell, regional head of air freight in North America, will oversee commercial carrier management, procurement, strategic network planning, and operational growth.
Also, Brent Mayhew has been appointed to lead the North American region, succeeding Wetherell in his previous role.
This leadership restructuring comes amid a significant expansion of Maersk's air freight business, focusing on enhancing service offerings and maintaining market leadership.
The appointments reflect Maersk's commitment to bolstering its air freight capabilities to meet evolving customer demands and capitalise on growth opportunities.
Maersk's extensive global presence and workforce ensure a robust foundation for its logistics services, reinforcing its position as a critical player in the industry.
'Air freight is a crucial component of our customers' supply chains and critical to our integrated product value proposition to our customers,' said maersk product head Murali Ramajani.
'In recent years, we have doubled our air freight business, become a top global air freight forwarder, and won the air freight carrier of the year award in India. John is the ideal leader to elevate our air freight business even higher as we continue our growth plans,' he said.
