MacGregor clinches more hatch cover deals for Japanese box ships
JAPAN Marine United's (JMU) Kure shipyard has awarded a contract for Cargotec's MacGregor to design and deliver key components and fabricate steel structures for the hatch covers on board five 14,000-TEU containerships under construction.
"MacGregor enjoys a long and successful working relationship with JMU," said MacGregor cargo handling sales chief Hiroshi Goto.
"The order builds on two similar previous contracts with the shipyard; one in 2015 for six vessels and the other for four vessels in 2014, taking MacGregor's delivery commitment to 15 ships in the same series."
The vessels are being built for an unidentified Japanese owner and will join the trade route between the Far East and Europe.
