THE first development phase of Singapore's Tuas mega-port has taken a major step towards fruition now that land reclamation is on schedule for completion in 2021.
The final, and 221st, caisson for land reclamation of Tuas Terminal phase 1 has now been installed, and the milestone was witnessed by Singapore's Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan, reported Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.
Three-quarters of the reclamation work for the first phase of the terminal has been completed, according to the authorities. From 2021 terminal operator PSA Corp will begin developing the first phase of the terminal that is designed to handle 20 million TEU per annum.
