FINLAND's Kalmar has secured two orders from Kenya Port Authority (KPA) for three forklift trucks, and eight reachstackers, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
The forklift trucks were booked in Cargotec's Q2 order intake and the reachstackers were booked for Q3. All machines are scheduled for delivery in Q1 of 2022.
KPA manages and operates the Port of Mombasa and all scheduled seaports along Kenya's coastline.
These new orders come after four Kalmar Gloria reachstackers were delivered in 2020 and 50 Kalmar terminal tractors were delivered to KPA in 2019 and 2020.
'We took delivery of our first Kalmar reachstacker in 2005, and it is still running flawlessly. Over the years Kalmar has always been willing to listen, adapt and provide us with solutions that meet our requirements without compromising on capacity. We are very much looking forward to welcoming these new machines to our fleet at the start of next year.' said KPA terminal engineering chief, Julius Tai.
Said Kalmar vice president Rob van Klingeren: 'KPA is a highly valued Kalmar customer in the region and we are very pleased to build on our excellent working relationship with them. I would also like to acknowledge the important role played by our local dealer Power Parts Kenya in securing these latest orders.'
