ROME's ita Airways has continued to develop its digital connectivity by linking its systems with the WiseTech cargo management platform.
The tie-up means that the airline will connect with WiseTech's CargoSpot via APIs and make its capacity available to the platform's customers, which include 24 of the 25 largest forwarders, reports London's Air Cargo News.
Forwarders that use CargoSpot will have access to ITA Airways Cargo's schedules, dynamic rates, capacity, and allotment bookings as well as the ability to change digital bookings.
Emiliana Limosani, chief commercial officer ITA Airways, said: 'ITA Airways' growing presence on online cargo booking portals is a key pillar of our business development strategy.
'This connection to the CargoWise ecosystem further enables this strategy. The air cargo market is extremely dynamic, and we need to be able to respond quickly and accurately to drive customer experiences with ITA Airways.'
Said WiseTech Global vice president Jorre Cobelens: 'Digital sales and booking channels are increasingly important for air freight carriers to meet their customers' expectations for more efficient and flexible ways to book and manage shipments.'
The move is not the carrier's foray into digital platforms. In December last year, ITA, which is minority owned by Lufthansa, announced that it had placed its capacity on the WebCargo online booking portal. And in October last year, the carrier joined the cargo.one portal.
