THE 2019 International Cargo Handling Co-ordination Association (ICHCA) International 20/20 Cargo Vision Conference & Exhibition is to be held in Malta on 11-14 November 2019.
Hosted by Malta Freeport, the event will bring all the stakeholders together to explore how to create safer, more sustainable and secure maritime cargo operations across land and sea.
More and more regulations are coming into force and these new rules impact operations along the cargo chain worldwide, the organisers said in a statement.
'ICHCA, the voice of the global cargo handling industry at IMO and other international bodies, facilitates a dialogue between industry and the regulators that has never been more needed.'
IMO's director of the Maritime Safety division, Ms Heike Deggim, will speak at the event. Some of the subjects to be discussed at the conference include automation and digitalisation; protecting people, cargo, assets and planet; decarbonisation; dangerous goods misdeclaration; safe packing and stowage of cargo; cyber and physical security; what do we do about all the fires?; and confined space entry, how do we stop seafarers and port personnel from dying?
