THE Association of American Railroads (R) president and CEO Ian Jefferies protested the INVEST in America Act, describing it as a 'doubling down' on past mistakes.
'Today, the house doubled down on the same misguided, divisive policies that ultimately failed a year ago,' said Mr Jefferies of HR 3684.
'The INVEST in America Act's problematic rail title would sidetrack railroads' ongoing modernisation, undermining their ability to compete, serve customers and power the economy into the future,' he said.
'At the same time, the strong bipartisan efforts in the Senate - supported by the President - are progressing toward consensus legislation that will make significant, long overdue investments and pay dividends for generations to come. Now is the time for thoughtful, broadly supported infrastructure solutions, and bipartisan legislation remains the best path to achieving those,' Mr Jefferies said.
