HONG KONG International Airport (HKIA) recorded just 0.2 per cent year-on-year growth in air cargo volumes in March to 432,000 tonnes as first quarter volumes fell 5.4 per cent to 1.1 million tonnes.
Exports, however, registered an 11 per cent spike in March, making the largest contribution to cargo growth. Among key trading regions, cargo exported to North America and Europe recorded the largest increases. Both import and transshipment volumes decreased.
On a 12-month rolling basis, HKIA's cargo throughput dropped 0.6 per cent to 5.06 million tonnes.
