HONG KONG International Airport suffered a tough year cargo traffic with throughput falling 6.1 per cent to 4.8 million tonnes. Flight movements fell 1.9 per cent to 419,730 in 2019.
Cargo throughput decreased one per cent to 443,000 tonnes last month, compared to December 2018, reported the HK Standard.
'We went through a challenging year in 2019,' said Airport Authority executive director of operations Vivian Cheung.
Despite this challenging business environment, the airport continued to receive awards for its services, being recognised again as a Travel Hall of Fame winner by the TTG Travel Awards, 'Freighter Hub of the Year' by the Cargo Airline of the Year awards organised by London's Air Cargo News, and 'World's Best Airport Dining' by Skytrax, the authority said in a statement.
