Hanjin Shipping’s “Annual Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea Agency Meeting” was held in Arkas Holding’s Istanbul building on September 27th.
Since 2002, Arkas Shipping has handled agency representation in Turkey for Hanjin Shipping one of the world’s largest shipping companies serving five continents from Europe to Australia with 33 years of experience in the sector. The agency meetings are held regularly every year, but were separated into new categories this year. The Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea agencies were hosted in Istanbul at an Arkas event as part of these new categories.

The meeting was attended by managers from Hanjin Shipping’s headquarters in Seoul and the regional headquarters in Hamburg, which Turkey is a part of, as well as by 20 agency representatives from Egypt, Beirut, Israel, Greece, Malta, Romania, Ukraine and Turkey. During the meeting, performance in 2010 was evaluated and goals were set for 2011. Hanjin Shipping will rise to 5th place in the global rankings after it takes delivery of the vessels which will be completed in 2011 and wants to use a certain portion of the increased capacity of almost 15% in the Eastern Mediterranean and specifically in Turkey.
With this new approach, Hanjin Shipping will begin to play an important role in the Turkish market in 2011. A few months back, a Turkish representative who will work at Arkas Shipping was appointed, demonstrating its interest in the region.
