GERMAN shipping line Hamburg Sud is joining the 'Ocean Three' shipping alliance's new Far East-US east coast service via the Panama Canal to be launched from Qingdao on May 15 with the sailing of the 4,253-TEU CSCL Vancouver.
CSCL brands the new service AAE3; CMA CGM, the Manhattan Bridge while UASC calls it AUC 2.
The port rotation is: Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami and back to Qingdao.
The service will be operated by 10 vessels ranging in size from 3,800 to 4,400 TEU, with five provided by CSCL, three by CMA CGM and one each from UASC and Hamburg Sud. It will turn in 10 weeks.
This loop is the second new Far East-US east coast service involving the four shipping lines, following the commencement on April 16 of the Vespucci Bridge/APNE/NUE 1 pendulum service by CMA CGM, Hamburg Sud and UASC, reports Alphaliner.
The service calls at: Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Cartagena (Colombia), Savannah, Charleston, Norfolk, New York, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Le Havre, Southampton, New York, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, Cartagena, Qingdao.
CSCL will take slots on the FE-USEC segment of this service from May 21, branding it as the AAE 5.
