HONG KONG ground handler hactl has returned to full normal operations, following a case of Covid being detected among ramp handlers, which led to the quarantining of his close work contacts by the Hong Kong Government, the company announced.
All quarantined staff, subsequently tested negative, and have now been released from the quarantine and have returned home, according to a Hactl press release.
The manpower shortage resulting from the quarantine affected around 20 per cent of flights but - despite the additional impact on all airport operations of two typhoons on October 9 and October 13 - the situation was brought under control through increased overtime, re-scheduling, re-deployment of staff and subcontracting others.
Less than five per cent of Hactl's workforce were affected, and over 80 per cent of flights were handled normally.
