Grimaldi Group Takes Its Place at Logitrans FairThe world's leading shipping company, Naples-based Grimaldi GRoup, will host visitors at stand number 318 in Hall 3 between November 20-22 to introduce its extensive service network and the new Trieste-Bari-Patras-Ambarlı line.Grimaldi Group, which has been represented by Egekont, operating under the umbrella of Arkas, since 1996, will be one of the leading participants at the international logistics and transportation fair Logitrans to be held in Istanbul between November 20-22. The Naples-based company will introduce its extensive service network, which it operates under the brands Grimaldi Lines, Finnlines, Minoan Lines and Trasmed in the Mediterranean basin, the Baltic and the North Sea, to visitors and leading representatives of the logistics sector at its stand in the fair area (Hall 3, Stand 318) throughout the event. The launch will focus on the new Trieste-Bari-Patras-Ambarlı service, which will be operated by sister ships Eco Mediterranea and Eco Malta. Each capable of carrying more than 500 trailers, these hybrid ro-ro vessels stand out as the world’s most environmentally friendly vessels, as they can halve CO2 emissions per load compared to previous-generation ro-ro vessels, and even reduce them to zero during the stay in port.Operating twice weekly from all three ports and complementing Grimaldi Lines’ existing routes, the Trieste-Bari-Patras-Ambarlı service establishes a direct connection between Greece and Turkey, while also representing a significant innovation in the group’s maritime transport service in the Mediterranean.Operating three times a week via a transfer from Greece, the Venice-Bari-Patras service facilitates ro-ro freight transport in Turkey by connecting with the Ports of the Apulia Region in Southern Italy. On the other hand, Venice serves as a different gateway for ro-ro cargo carried between Northern Italy and Turkey using the same transfer method. In order to strengthen the line, grimaldi group plans to include the third sister ship of Eco Mediterranea and Eco Malta, which are being built at Jinling shipyards in China, in the future. Then, the addition of a fourth Eco-class ship to the line is also among the plans for the future.Environmentally Friendly Ro-Ros in the MediterraneanThe world's largest and environmentally friendly hybrid Ro-Ro ships to be used in the new service, Eco Mediterranea and Eco Malta, are in the innovative "GG5G" class. In addition to being environmentally friendly, they have twice the capacity of the previous Ro-Ro ship class used by Grimaldi Group for short-distance cargo transportation, with a capacity equivalent to more than 500 trailers and 180 cars, with wheeled loads (semi-trailers, driven vehicles, cars, vans, trucks, project loads).Carbon Emissions Fall as Capacity IncreasesThanks to innovative technological solutions that optimize consumption and performance, the increase in capacity on the ships does not affect fuel consumption. Eco Mediterranea and Eco Malta, which consume the same amount of fuel at the same speed as previous generation Ro-Ro ships, halve their CO2 emissions per unit of cargo carried. Emissions are completely eliminated during port operations: Eco Mediterranea and Eco Malta achieve their "Zero Emission in Port®" target while waiting at the berth using electrical energy stored in mega lithium batteries that are charged by shaft generators and 350 m² of solar panels on board during the cruise.
