GREENCARRIER, a freight forwarding company, started making deliveries in Shanghai, China using all-electric trucks on July 1 as part of its efforts to cut its logistics carbon footprint. Each truck can travel up to 240 kilometres between charges and the batteries can be recharged within two to three hours.
'This investment is part of our environmental strategy and will play an important role in sustainable fleet management. We are excited to see these vehicles in action,' said Greencarrier Freight Services managing director Tero Ahonen in a company statement.
Greencarrier Group owner Stefan Bjork added: 'Being in the logistics industry, an industry that inevitably has a great impact on the environment, this is an important step for us. We constantly strive to find new and innovative solutions and greener ways of meeting our customers' logistics needs.'
