FEDEX Express is using its global network and logistics resources to provide rapid transportation of medical supplies and personal protective equipment to provide relief to its customers in Hong Kong, particularly small-to-medium sized enterprises, while the city experiences an ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
The move comes as there has been surging demand in Hong Kong for imported medical supplies, especially surgical masks.
To expedite the customs clearance process, FedEx is conducting pre-arrival screening of surgical mask shipments before their arrival at Hong Kong International Airport. On the operational front, the company is prioritising delivery arrangements for these shipments.
Its couriers are prioritising surgical mask deliveries whenever possible and extending late evening deliveries to residential locations until 10:00 pm.
'The safety and well-being of FedEx team members is our top priority. FedEx is adhering to all regulations and guidelines from government authorities related to containment of COVID-19.
'We are closely monitoring the guidance by the World Health Organization and other public health organizations and taking proper health precautions where warranted in terms of team members and customer's health and safety,' a company release said.
