THE Federal Aviation Administration (F), the US regulatory air safety agency, has initiated a safety audit of India's aviation, reports New Delhi's Business Standard.
The F will assess Indian aviation regulators' adherence to the norms set by UN's c (ICAO).
According to a senior official of the regulatory body in India, a five-member team of F is currently in the country for the audit of safety guidelines, including the licensing of personnel and airworthiness.
'The safety audit by F is expected to emphasise upon the issuing of licences to personnel involved as well as aircraft's airworthiness,' a top official told ANI (Asian News International).
The official in the know of the matter added that this F team consists of domain experts from legal, investigations and safety fields.
According to the government official, this F team will be auditing the safety norms in India for over five days.
In 2018, the F had raised concerns over regulatory and guidance material by from India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
In 2014, the F had downgraded India's regulatory oversight to Category-II from Category-I.
