ETIHAD added in late November a five-times-per week Airbus A330 service with 16 tonnes of bellyhold capacity to Barcelona in an effort to tap Spain's fashion, perishable goods, pharma and automotive markets.
The new Barcelona service operates alongside the carrier's daily Boeing 787 service to Madrid. In addition, the airline offers trucking services to gateways across Europe, reported London's Air Cargo News.
The frequency of the Barcelona service will rise to daily flights from the end of March 2019.
Etihad Airways managing director cargo and logistics Abdulla Mohamed Shadid said: 'Spain is an important global trade market with high demand for both import and export capabilities to key destinations across the Middle East and Asia.
'Expanding our capacity into the market with the addition of services to Barcelona enhances our network with even greater focus on key global trade routes.'
