ETIHAD Cargo has added an outbound stop at Germany's Frankfurt airport to its weekly Boeing 777 freighter service between Abu Dhabi international airport and Ohio's Rickenbacker international airport (LCK). The flight now stops at Amsterdam Schipol on the return leg.
By year-end, the carrier plans to launch a second weekly flight to LCK, opening up an extra European gateway, reported London's Air Cargo News.
The airline has also commenced a new road feeder network between Rickenbacker international airport and other US destinations including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and Philadelphia.
The LCK freighters complement existing bellyhold capacity on Etihad's direct widebody services between Abu Dhabi and major US gateways including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, DC.
To support the carrier's operations in North America, Christel Alaimo has been appointed as area manager for North America, with immediate effect. She was previously Flexport's senior manager of air freight for the Americas.
Etihad Cargo has made additional changes to its freighter network. From October 5, the airline will commence a weekly Boeing 777 freighter service to Johannesburg's Tambo international airport, which will bolster existing bellyhold capacity on daily widebody operations between Abu Dhabi and Johannesburg, Cairo, Casablanca, Rabat and Lagos.
