EMIRATES Shipping Line (ESL) is to launch its enhanced flagship GALEX service on February 14 which will provide direct connections between key Chinese ports and the newest addition, the Saudi Arabian maritime hub of Dammam.
The upgraded port rotation is expected to reduce transit time between key ports in China and Jebel Ali, as well as ensure continued coverage into Sohar, Oman and Khor Fakkan, UAE, reports Greece's Container News.
Additionally, the Gulf Pakistan Shuttle (GPS), an upgrade from the liner's earlier JBS service, provides direct access between Pakistan, Shuwaikh and Dammam, as well as to the transshipment hub in Jebel Ali, with further connections to the esl network in Asia, the Red Sea and East Africa. The service's first voyage was on February 6.
The Jebel Ali Bahrain Express (JBX) service, which commences on February 15, is an exclusive weekly shuttle between Jebel Ali and Bahrain.
'Bahraini customers can utilize Jebel Ali as a transshipment hub, and tap into wider markets in Asia, the Red Sea, the Indian Subcontinent and Africa,' said ESL in a statement.
All three services pass through Jebel Ali, bringing the total number of ESL services passing through the port to eight.
GALEX service rotation: Busan (South Korea), Qingdao (China), Shanghai (China), Xiamen (China), Da Chan Bay (China), Port Klang (Malaysia), Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Khor Fakkan (United Arab Emirates), Sohar (Oman), Port Klang (Malaysia) and returning to Busan (South Korea).
GPS service rotation: Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates), Karachi, (Pakistan), Sohar (Oman), Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates), Kuwait, Dammam (Saudi Arabia) and returning to Jebel Ali (United Arab Emirates).
JBX service rotation: Jebel Ali (UAE), Bahrain and returning to Jebel Ali (UAE).
