THE freight division of Emirates - Emirates SkyCargo - has been presented with the award for being the 'Best Customer Airline 2018' by the ground handling division of MAB Kargo for having transported the largest volume of air cargo from Kuala Lumpur International Airport among MAB Kargo's customer airlines.
Emirates SkyCargo engaged MAB Kargo as its ground handling agent in Kuala Lumpur International Airport and has seen a growth of more than 17 per cent in the volume of cargo uplift.
Emirates SkyCargo transports cargo to and from Kuala Lumpur in the belly hold of its widebody Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft. The air cargo carrier has been flying to Malaysia since 1996 and currently operates three daily services from the Malaysian capital allowing exporters and importers in the region access to close to 700 tonnes of cargo capacity every week.
'During the Financial Year 2018/19, Emirates SkyCargo transported close to 23,000 tonnes of export and import cargo from Malaysia which translated into a growth of more than 17 per cent from the previous year,' said Bobby Chang, Emirates Cargo Manager for Malaysia.
'The award from MAB Kargo is an important recognition of our achievements and our growth in the Malaysia market.'
Popular exports from Malaysia include electronic products and components including semiconductors, laptops, other consumer products, spare parts for other industries including aviation, oil and gas as well as renewable energy solar panels. Frequently imported commodities include pharmaceuticals, fashion goods, perishable goods including food items and fresh flowers, reports AJOT.
