FRENCH shipping heavyweight CMA CGM has received the highest distinction from EcoVadis and is now ranked among the top one per cent most responsible companies in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) within the shipping sector.
The shipping group was awarded the 'Gold Recognition Level' for the fourth year in a row by this ratings agency that specializes in evaluating CSR.
Ecovadis' report underlines the 'excellent' performance of the group on environmental, labour practices and human rights, fair business practices and sustainable procurement issues. This evaluation places one of the shipping sector's leaders among the top five per cent of most responsible companies across all sectors, a company release said.
Receiving this rating 'bears testimony to the active engagement of the group's collaborators as well as to CMA CGM's excellency in the field of CSR, whose strategy is based on six priorities', which include ethics and compliance by preventing corruption risks and by developing policies regarding ethics and compliance among all stakeholders.
Group executive officer Tanya Saade Zeenny commented: 'The growth of CMA CGM over the past 40 years has been based on strong humane values. This ethical requirement is closely linked to the group's family history and manifests itself into the implementation of ambitious initiatives in this regard.
