DB Digital Ventures, Deutsche Bahn's digital business division, is investing in drone infrastructure company Skyports. Through a joint pilot project, the partners will explore how drones can be integrated into DB's logistics supply chains to make cargo transport faster, more flexible and efficient.
DB management board member for digitalisation and technology Sabina Jeschke was quoted as saying in a report by London's Air Cargo News: 'Drone technology is developing at a rapid pace. In collaboration with Skyports, we intend to research how to participate in this dynamic development for passenger and cargo transport.'
Skyport Duncan Walker chief executive added: 'As an environmentally-minded provider of mobility services and a leader in electromobility, Deutsche Bahn is the perfect partner for us, a company promoting the use of electric, zero-emissions aircraft.'
