The "L'Austral" has made an unscheduled stop at Bluff Harbour on Jan 12, 2017. The cruise ship pulled into South Port in Bluff, after it reportedly hit an object at sea.

More than 200 passengers and crew were taken off at 6.30 p.m. while inspections were carried out.

Buses were transporting the passengers from the harbour into Bluff's town centre. All passengers had initially been told to disembark the ship, but were able to return on board after initial checks were done. Bluff was not a planned stop for the cruise ship touring New Zealand.
