Coming from Larsnes, the "Ro North" ran aground following an engine blackout in a stiff northwest breeze, which carried it quickly towards an underwater reef, at Roan in South-Trøndelag on Feb 23, 2017, at 1.20 p.m. There were several other ships in the vicinity to assist the crew of 10 in case needed. After the engine was restarted, the "Ro North" launched a tender with a tow rope, and she was pulled off the ground by the serice boat "Aqua Power" which had been 20 minutes away. During the salvage, one crew member was injured by a breaking hawser and had to be evacuated by a Sea King rescue helicopter from Ørlandet with fractures. The victim was flown to thee St. Olav's hospital at 1.25 p.m. The "Ro North" headed to the Fosen Terminal at Bessaker for a bottom inspection in the evening.
