THE Avante Escuela de la Marina Mercante in Colombia has now purchased a Class A full mission bridge simulator to further expand training capacity.
This follows the installation of a VSTEP desktop trainer classroom last year. The order for an additional VSTEP NAUTIS Class A full mission bridge simulator followed delivery of a desktop trainer.
The school reported an "overwhelmingly positive feedback" from students and instructors about the ease of use and the training possibilities of the desktop trainers.
The full mission bridge simulator has a 240-horizontal field of view and is compliant with the Class A DNV Standards for Certification No 2.14 for Maritime Simulator Systems and IMO model courses 1.22 and 1.32.
With offices in Bogota and Santa Marta, the Avante Maritime School is a valued maritime training centre in the region, training shipping and port companies all through the Caribbean and Pacific coast, the school said.
The school is an ISO 9001:2008 certified company and has 45 academic programmes approved by the General Maritime Authority DIMAR and in full compliance with the latest IMO guidelines.
The NAUTIS Class A Full Mission Bridge simulator will be installed by VSTEP at the Avante headquarters in Bogota. The Avante instructors will receive train-the-trainer courses from the VSTEP engineers to familiarise themselves with operation of the simulator
